Joe Perez - Woodwinds

Mr. Perez has had the opportunity to play saxophone for 18 years, crediting his young start to his father, a well-known band director in the Houston area. Thanks to him, Mr. Perez had the chance to excel not only on sax, but on clarinet and flute as well, having 10 years experience on them. Joe graduated from high school (HSPVA) in 2014 with a concentration on Woodwinds. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from UNT in 2019. Joe has the ability to play/teach various styles, teach intricate yet useful theory, and provide a well-rounded education.

Tameshia Magwood - Choir

I'm Teacher Tameshia. I am a Music Teacher and Children's Storyteller. I have been teaching music since 2009 in churches, public schools, camps, and homeschool groups. I have a degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina, Go Gamecocks! My approach to teaching music is teaching basic musical elements through games, singing, instrument playing and performance. These fundamentals provide the necessary foundation to build upon their musical journey. Students are able to transition into instrumental and vocal ensembles smoothly with confidence. I am a homeschooling mom who resides in North Dallas, Texas with my husband Ken and daughter Makenna. My hobbies are singing, dancing and roller skating. When I grow up I aspire to be a Broadway STAR!

Ina Bullard - President and Registrar

I am a wife, a mom of three, and a devoted member of the church of Christ. I have homeschooled and graduated my three children and two nephews. My daughter joined the band program in February 2018. We fell in love with the band program, and I quickly became a volunteer. In that time, I have watched it grow into the Fine Arts program it is today and am very proud to be a part of this organization.

Julie LaCoste - Vice President and Treasurer

My name is Julie LaCoste. I wear several hats for NTXHFA but my primary role is Treasurer. I have six children ranging in ages 5-19. I have been homeschooling since 2008 and have graduated my oldest son. I am proud to say that my oldest daughter, Sama, is one of the original twelve founding members of the marching band.

My family is originally from Southwest Louisiana. We lived in the heart of Cajun country until moving to Plano in 2012. Texas has been good to us and has blessed us with wonderful friends and our NTXHFA family.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Geaux Ragin Cajuns! Before becoming a full time homeschooling Mom, I worked in health care, law enforcement, oil field manufacturing and a chamber of commerce.

I played Alto Saxophone beginning in 5th grade. I received several awards including the John Phillips Sousa Award my Senior year. Music has never left my soul. That passion can now be somewhat satisfied with my service for NTXHFA.

Lisa Canfield - Secretary

I am blessed to be Kyle's wife and Megan's mom. I serve as Secretary for NTXFA. We are members of Denton Bible Church and have homeschooled since Megan started school. She plays flute and also helps out in orchestra playing the classical and acoustic guitars. Megan joined the band in February, 2018 during its first year.  It has been a joy to see the band grow from about a dozen to now almost 60 students! I am excited to see the continued growth of NTXFA.
